Question Won't agitate but spins
Model Number: LWA80AW   Brand: Amana   Age: More than 10 years

The motor clicks when it comes time to agitate. The motor bumps slightly in one direction but never backs up. The machine will spin but seems to take a little longer than I remember to spin up to speed. I get 5 Ohms across the motor and no connection to ground.

Default

You need to remove the agitator and check to see if number 11 is stripped or not... it is splined

Question Won't Agitate but spins

By part #11 I assume you are referring to the Drive Bell. I replaced that item 4 years ago when a leaky tub needed a new seal kit. The Drive Bell is fine and so is the belt and bearing housing I replaced at the same time while I was in there.
The problem now seams to be electrical. The clicking sound appears to be a switch/overload/clutch and I need help identifying the source. I replaced the motor starter capacitor because it was cheap and easy to get at the local Graingers with no success. The motor appears to spin fine during the spin cycle which is the opposite direction from the start of the agitate cycle.
Are there schematics available so that I can test the motor switch and motor with my meter? Are there other ways to test these devices to determine the problem?
