Default Motor and Pump replacement
Model Number: GU980SCGS2   Brand: Whirlpool   Age: 5 - 10 years

The machine is stuck after it fills with water and won't pump out when I cancel the cycle. The drain hose is filled with water. I'm handy enough with repairs, but I'm wondering if it's worth replacing the pump and motor on this model. Also if there are anything else I should get.

Remove the bottom panel and check if the pump was leaking and the motor is damaged.

If the motor itself is fine then the old pump can be rebuilt. If the motor is bad then the whole assembly has to be replaced and your decision should be based on the age and the condition of the dishwasher because of costly repair.

Here are the break down diagrams for the Whirlpool dishwasher Model GU980SCGS2
