Hi,

My Maytag MDB7160AWB washer started not cleaning very well a few weeks ago, food would be left on dishes, etc. I confirmed the water is hot, water gets in to the washer, it sounds like it is filling, running and draining, but the dishes are still dirty. I did test the resistance of the inlet valve and it's not an open circuit but it is reading 1000 ohms. Is that the problem then, or is that normal for that inlet valve?

Thanks.

Open the door during the wash cycle and check the water level and see if both spray arms are rotating.

Post your findings.

Here are the break down diagrams for the Maytag dishwasher Model MDB7160AWB

The water level seems to be ok and the arms seem to be rotating, but they stop spinning before i can even look inside. I know they are rotating just because they are in a different place every time I open the door.

EDIT: Actually, now that I am checking further along in the cycle, it seems like the water stops getting pumped around and the arms stop moving. It's making noise but when I open the door there's no water coming out of the arms.

Chris,

Sounds like there is a problem with the wash pump. If the dishwasher is less than five years old - it is still under the limited manufacturer warranty and it's better if you call Maytag for service.
