The fill valve won't stop filling and water overflows out the door even after machine is turned off. I have checked the overflow prevention device and believe it to be working correctly. I recently changed the shut off valve under the sink, but I don't see how that could be related. Please help.

Sounds like some crud came loose when you replaced the shut-off and was able to get past the fill valve's screen filter. This is now holding the valve open.
I would replace the units fill valve.
