The original soap dispenser on the Whirlpool Dishwasher GU1500 series, which had an addtional electrical lead for the rinse aid dispenser was replaced with a dispenser that only requires one lead.

What do I do with the second lead which appears to be no longer necessary?

Joe,

What is the part number for the dispenser in question?

Whirlpool has redesigned this part and changed the part number, but there are still two terminals for the solenoid and it requires two wires to be connected.

The rinse aid sensor (#11 on the diagram) is a separate part and has to be removed from the old dispenser or ordered separate.

Gene,

Thanks for your response. The old "dispenser assembly" #8270034 (which you pictured) had a provision for the "sensor, rinse aid" #8533381 (also pictured).

The new "dispenser assembly" #8558129 does not have any provisions for the rinse aid sensor, thus leaving a two wire lead hanging.

What to do with the extra lead is the question.

Thank you

Joe

Just tape it up and tuck it somewhere out of the way.

The have stopped using the rinse aid level sensing, probably was causing more problems than it was worth.
