Model Number: ASF645 model no. 911232112 Brand: Electrolux Age: 5 - 10 years
Drain pump stays on all the time. The filter is clean and when I pour clean water into the machine it gets pumped out OK. The bottom of the dishwasher is dry. I checked the little float switch attached to a piece of foam and it seems to be working OK.
This started happening after an incident when the filter was clogged up at the end of a wash cycle. I cleaned the filter but now the drain pump still stays on all the time. I tried turning the programmer dial manually but that doesn't help (the pump goes off but the wash cycle doesn't start) Any ideas what the problem could be? |

Hi William,
The model number you posted does not come up. It could be incorrect or this is not American model. Verify and repost it, please. Gene.

Hi Gene,
thanks for your quick feedback on my posting. Its a european model dishwasher Arthur Martin Electrolux type ASF645. The model number is 911232112 according to info from the sticker on the inside of the door. Yesterday I dried out the floor of the dishwasher completely but that doesn't seem to fix it (the floor was a still a bit damp from the time the filter got blocked). The microswitch attached to the block of foam at the base of the machine seems to click on and off OK when I lift the foam block up and down. So the safety shut off mechanism seems to be working normally (I didn't check this with a multimeter though) When I switch on the machine for a wash cycle the programmer doesn't advance any further than the initial drain part of the cycle. If I force the program dial on by hand the drain pump goes off but the rest of the wash cycle doesn't start (i.e. the dishwasher does nothing at all). |

Hi William,
Unfortunately most of European models designed very different compare to American and I can not find any reliable information on line. Maybe someone else on the forum can help you better. Gene.

Got the dishwasher working in the end. The drain was blocked causing water to leak out into the base of the machine activating the drain pump AND the safety microswitch in the door also had failed (to open circuit). I cleaned the filter, dried out the bottom of the dishwasher and changed the door mechanism and the washer worked.
The clue the led me to find the broken door switch was that once the dishwasher base was dry the progam wouldn't start and no power was reaching the pressostat |
