I have a Maytag, model MDBH955AWW. The lights on the panel work except for the start/cancel and the normal wash lights. The unit will not work. I have checked for power to the unit. The control lock is not the problem. The switches work (checked continuity). Any suggestions before I buy a new one?

The switches work (checked continuity).
If you are sure that the switches work then the problem is probably on the control board. I would try the below contact cleaning.
Looks like Pin 6 is the common for the two switches so you may want to inspect that track on the board. It may have a cold solder joint or a cracked circuit track.

Any suggestions before I buy a new one?
Not sure what you mean by "new one"
New dishwasher?
Or
New control panel?
The usual way to trouble shoot is to check the keys. If they check out OK then replace the control board (Item7 in Section 1). Still a bit of a crap shoot but your odds at getting the correct part are better.

Connector Cleaning / Checking
Unplug the unit
Open it up
Remove the ribbon cable from the keypad to the control board at the control board.
Clean the edge connector.
If it is the type where there is not a connector just the insulation is removed, it can be cleaned with a pencil eraser. Do not use an ink eraser as it is too abrasive.
Check the tracks in the ribbon cable for hairline cracks. A magnifying glass helps here.
Would not hurt to clean the connector on the board. Use electronics contact cleaner or isopropyl alcohol and a tooth brush. Be gentle and do not reconnect till all the solvent evaporates.
Reconnect everything and give it a try.
