We just bought a used washer--Maytag LA810. We can hear the motor hum whe we turn it on but cant get it to do anything else in any cycle. Did we shake something loose during the move or did we buy a piece of junk?

You bought a very old washer. But it is a really good model. It may very well prove to be worth the effort and expense to diagnose and repair. Have you checked all the cycles?
