The machine was left unused for 6 months. When I tried running, all the sudden stopped working. There is no power coming to the panel. I opened the lower panel and used the meter to check for continuity. Unable to identify the fault. I observed one brown discolored burnt wire connected via a terminal, passed continuity test. Unsure what caused this burnt wire? I contacted a local parts supplier and was told it maybe the timer. I hate to be shooting darts in the dark for possibly buying a timer and finding out this didn't fix my problem. I have a feeling this maybe related to something simple like door latch is not making full closed circuitry or maybe associated door limit switch is defective? As you can see, I am trying to have a sound approach of tackling this issue and would apprecite any insights. You help will be most appreciated.

Maytag has a recall out for several models in your appliance's age group.
It was for a wiring issue, a wire harness that can burn and catch wires on fire.
They may come out and make the repair/upgrade free of charge. I'd check that first.
That may be the reason you mentioned you don't know why the wire burnt.
Hope that helps, Tommyboy84

Thanks tommyboy84. Wow. The issue has been resolved. The issue was the door interlock switch is defective. I followed this link: Dishwasher-Troubleshooting.
I bought the switch from a local supplier and now I am back on track.
