Default Dishwasher leaking while off
Model Number: MDB5000AWB   Brand: Maytag   Age: 1 - 5 years

The dishwasher has a hose on the inside on the left. I don't know what the hose is for but it is slowly leaking water. The water then builds up in the dishwasher and eventually leaks on the floor. This has happened twice only while the dishwasher is off. The second time it happened the water was turned off to the dishwasher. I can only assume that it is backing up from the garbage disposal, but I really have no idea. The garbage disposal itself is not backed up.

So does anyone know what might be causing this?

After looking at the parts diagrams it looks like it is the leaking out of the water injector (part 5 on diagram 6). What is the purpose of this and what water source is it hooked up to? I have a feeling that the valve is bad. Any thoughts?

Most likely the water inlet valve (#2 on the tub break down diagram) is stuck open.

Possible the water shut off valve for the dishwasher is not working properly which caused the overflowing the second time. It has to be checked by a plumber.

- The part number for the dishwasher water valve is AP178686

Here are the break down diagrams for the Maytag dishwasher Model MDB5000AWB
