Model Number: DU951PWKQ1 Brand: Whirlpool Age: 5 - 10 years
I have a whirlpool quiet partner II dishwasher. The detergent door hasn't worked for the two years that we have owned the house. I took the door off and replaced the dual arm actuator that should pop the mechanism. I can't run the dishwasher and check for power at the actuator because I have to have the door off to get to it. Does any one know if I need to change something else? Is this a timer problem?

The first thing I would do is pull the lower dish rack out, turn it around and put it back. If the dish rack is in the wrong position - it will interfere with the soap cup lid.
One more thing - the soap cup lid normally opens only about 1/3 way. This is enough to release a soap. If there is nothing wrong, then remove the inner door panel and check the locking tab on the right side of the console which must hold the console to the door frame, together with the dual wax motor (#17 on the frame & console break down diagram) attached to the console. If the locking tab is not in place or broken off, the dual motor will never engage the the mechanism for the soap cup lid. The correction in that case is to replace the console. - Here are the break down diagrams for the Whirlpool dishwasher Model DU951PWKQ1 Gene.

Hi gene,
I have taken the door apart twice now and I know that the actuator work smoothly. I can pull the arm up on my own with almost no pressure. The detergent door pops right open. I just checked the bottom rack and it is in properly. I replaced the dual wax motor in the past, not the actuator, my fault on bad info. The actuator is firmly connected to the door panel and I make sure that the wax motor is lined up when I put the door back together. I don't think that the board is powering the motor but I don't want to replace the board unless it is bad. I appreciate your suggestions and I hope that you have some more. Thanks, Little Fry. |

Hi Little Fry,
If the dual wax motor is new and it's lined up properly, then the only failure suspect left is the control board. Before replacing the control board check the resistance across each of the wax motors. It suppose to be between 600 Ohms to 1800 Ohms. - The part number for the control board is AP3175633 Gene.
