The dishwasher will not start... It filled with water, stopped filling, won't start washing... I move the dial to where it should drain and it won't drain... Is there a way to test the motor to see if that is the problem?

Your unit is a GE but I could not find any other info on it.
Take a look behind the kick plate to see if they put the diagram in there.

To check the motor remove the wires from it and check the winding for continuity. Usually a few ohms.
If open the motor is toast.
If OK
Change the meter to AC volts and check that there is power to the motor during a wash cycle. If it is not getting power, it could be the timer or a broken wire between the timer and motor.

I am assuming that the motor does not make any noise at all which would indicate that perhaps it is jammed. With power off you could rotate the armature of the motor with a small screwdriver using the fins at it's back, to see if it rotates freely.

is one of the pictures that your parts people sent to me. They were able to find this dishwasher but I dont' know if it was a GE or not.

Anyway, thanks for that information. I did order a new timer, however, I feel that it is something else since the old one will fill the water, etc. I will check the motor as you indicated and also see if it is stuck. Thanks.
