Default Water drained out during washing cycles
Model Number: GSD3620F00BB   Brand: GE   Age: 5 - 10 years

Appliance Parts from AppliancePartPros.com
Hi,

I have a GE Nautilus dishwasher 6 years.

My dishwasher works through all cycles but when the dishwasher drains the waste water of the first cycle the drain valve is not shut off so when the water fills in for the second cycles the water continues to drain out, the dishwasher washes without water.

I observed that the solenoid does not release when the waste water pumped out so the draining valve kept open therefore the water fills in for second cycle drained out too.

The only way to release the solenoid is to open the door.

I have changed the timer, I also changed the solenoid but nothing changes, the water kept drained out.

So something else keeps the solenoid holds the draining valve open.

I tried many times the whole wash cycle...once the solenoid open the draining valve, it keeps open until the end unless I open the door.

Thank you very much for advices .

Here are the parts
Replacement parts for GE GSD3620F00BB | AppliancePartsPros.com

So something else keeps the solenoid holds the draining valve open.
The way it works is that the solenoid is activated for about 10 seconds at the start of a drain cycle. The flapper valve moves to the drain position. The water pressure holds the flapper valve close until the unit is empty.
If the solenoid is activated by the timer for longer that 10 seconds it will overheat and be damaged, you have already replaced it and had no solenoid overheating so It will be OK.
Usually you can hear the pump begin to growl when the unit is empty.

Probably the unit has a drain problem so the flapper always has water pressure on it and stays in the drain position.
I would operate the flapper manually just to be sure it is not sticking.

Next I would investigate a drain problem.

Remove the sump cover (inside center of the tub) and check for debris or something wrapped around the chopper.
Be careful as often there is glass in the sump. Also note how the inside piece is installed, reinstall it incorrectly and the chopper will eat it.

Check the drain hose and house plumbing for plugs. Especially where the drain hose attaches to the house plumbing.

Check the Piston and Nut (Item 564 Section 1). This is under the back cover inside the tub at the rear. It unscrews.
This is a high probability as they often cause problems.

Thank you very much for advices.

Can you show where the flapper is ?

I see 2 parts that I am guessing the flapper you related to:

1/ A quarter size round rubber disk attached to a washer by the top located in Body valve & assembly part ( I can not paste the image here) where the water pumped out to the drain hose.

2/ A bigger flapper located in the core of the pump where it close/open the water activated by the solenoid.

Best regards

If you click on the picture a new page will open.
You can see the flapper in the middle picture when you look down the throat of the pump.
It is attached to the solenoid
