Kitchenaid (leaking and squealing)
Model Number: KUDE70FXSS6 Brand:
Kitchen Aid Age:
1 - 5 years
Recently the dishwasher when you start it will make a squealing sound, its strange.. I almost thought it was like it was "starving for water" but i can stop the cycle and it has what looks like plenty of water and no issues with dishes not being clean. Does not make the squealing noise when emptying either.
Last night when I got home wife shows me the huge puddle of water in front of the dishwasher. I pulled the bottom off and could see water coming out of the diverter motor. I know there is a seal in the sump and I don't see that you can order that separately.
Since I didn't want to get stuck having to wash dishes until I can get parts ordered I pulled the diverter motor, installed a small o-ring on the shaft and applied some grease to the shaft. Results.. Still squeaks but no leak. One other thing that I don't understand is that my cabinets look like they have water stains in the middle of the of the cabinet and at the floor. Understand the damage at the floor but not the circular spot mid way up on both sides that does not meet where the damage is on the floor??
So thinking the shaft seal is the reason for the leak. So have to get sump and motor I would guess to be safe, but still scratching my head on the squeal..
This is my 2nd Kitchenaid in less than 4 years, first one shot flames out the side and trashed my cabinet on one side of the washer. Now Water trashing both, not too impressed with this brand.
