Model Number: hda2000z01ad Brand: Hotpoint Age: 1 - 5 years
Ok so My machine is working intermittently. I First suspecting the switches behind the latch. Both were engaging fine, so I thought that maybe one had gone bad. I hard-wired around them to test and still no luck so That obviously isn't the problem. All connections on the timer seem good. The Timer dials all seem to run through their cycles properly. Sooo....the only solution i have right now is if it won't work, I bang the front of the dishwasher around where the timer is located and sometimes, eventually it will start. What do you think? Bad internals on the timer?

Here are your parts
Replacement parts for GE HDA2000Z01AD | AppliancePartsPros.com You have checked the door switch and the wiring so I agree with you that all that is left is the timer. If you have the wiring diagram you could check it with a meter.

.and now it won't drain, so Solenoid is acting up. Could be the result of the Timer being bad. I dunno
Yes this also could be a timer problem. You may want to pull the solenoid and check it for signs of overheating re: melted plastic or it's plunger sticking. You may also have to replace it. The way it is supposed to work is that the solenoid is only powered for 5 to 10 seconds then the water pressure hold the flapper valve/solenoid closed till it is empty. If the timer messes up or it's contacts stick the solenoid gets power for a longer time which causes it to overheat. I would replace the timer.
