The soap dispenser won't stay closed so I googled and searched and decided to replace the dispenser. I ordered new part # 00490467 which was recommended and is non-vented. When I took door panel off, the installed dispenser is vented and does not have the electrical connector on the lower left side that the new one does. Question? Do I need to find a vented version or can I cut out the end of the non-vented one to receive the vent? What does the vent accomplish? What does the electrical connector on the lower left corner do on the new one? Will the new one work if there is nothing connected to it other than the main connector on the bottom?

See pic of currently installed dispenser.
