Default Frigidaire Dishwasher does not drain
Model Number: FDBB1940DB0   Brand: Frigidaire   Age: 1 - 5 years

Appliance Parts from AppliancePartPros.com
I have a Frigidaire dishwasher model FDBB1940DBO

The water is not draining completely. The bottom is full of murky white water.

I have pulled the screens out and they are clean. Is there an easy way to check the hose for obstructions without pulling the unit out to disconnect the hose?

Thanks!

Here are your parts
Replacement parts for FRG FDBB1940DB0 | AppliancePartsPros.com

Here is the tech sheet
http://manuals.frigidaire.com/prodin...54493101en.pdf

You could undo the hose ate the house plumbing end and check that area.

Often it will clog at the house plumbing fitting.
Check that the house drain is OK.
Also that the hose is looped higher than the drain to reduce the chance of siphoning back into the unit.

I am assuming a couple things first that your model number is the same and second that nothing has been changed with the house plumbing.

The following may come in handy.
http://frigidaireservicetips.com/pdfs/484_2.pdf

First I would check for a drain blockage.
Disconnect the drain hose at the house plumbing and then hold it securely in a pail to see if it will drain. Put a towel over the pail so water does not splash all over.
Units often plug where the drain hose attaches to the house plumbing.

If OK
Then check/clean the pump filters etc.
If all is OK then probably the drain pump is toast.

Since the drain is clear and the main pump sounds OK then odds are high that your drain pump is toast.

I am assuming your model is a close match to the model in the original post.

Sorry I cannot find the part for you as the model number does not come up.

Default Frigidare Won't Drain - ModelFD8130RG53

This dishwasher has two separate pumps, one for the wash/rinse cycles and another to drain the unit. The wash/rinse cycles operation is fine, but the unit will not drain. I removed the drain pump and connected it to a separate 120 volt power source: it operates flawlessly.

The dishwasher is less than two years old, and has the dial/timer type control on the front panel. If I cycle the unit manually, the unit hums loudly when it is time for the drain cycle to empty the dishwasher. Therefore, I assume the drain pump is getting power at that time.

The drain hose is connected to a newly installed garbage disposal. The hose itself is not blocked, and the inlet to the disposal is clear.

Could the dishwasher outlet pipe that connects to the drain pump inlet be completely blocked - causing this problem? That's the only thing I can think of that I have not checked. Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer.

Remove the drain hose from the disposal and drain it into a pail to see if it works.
Be sure to hold the end of the drain hose securely and put a towel over the top of the pail so water does not splash all over.

If it drains OK look into the disposal drain with a flashlight to ensure that knock out has been properly knocked out.

Thanks for the prompt response. I found the problem yesterday. While the drain pump operates properly, there was a problem with the main pump. When I removed it for inspection, I found that the plastic ring on the end had come out of the slot on the mating part, and was completely blocking water flow out of the dishwasher. It does not appear damaged and I did not see any cracks, either; it simply became dislodged from it's normal position. But, I would still like to replace it. Do you know if this ring can be purchased separately? Replacing the pump itself is too expensive: around $150.00. A whole new dishwasher is only $189.00 on sale her in Ohio.

Look the model up on the AppliancePartsPros, there is usually a parts breakdown.
If you see the part then you can probably get it.
If it does not show up as a separate item then it is not replaceable on it's own.
