Most likely there is a problem with the wash pump and/or motor. Remove the lower spray arm and disassemble the pump from the top of it. Inspect for a foreign objects inside and the pump impellers. You can find the pump disassembly instructions in the Service manual. Even this manual for a different model numbers - the pump design is the same.

Here are the breakdown diagrams and Pump & motor replacement parts for MAYTAG MDBTT60AWW | AppliancePartsPros.com

Default Motor vs. Craigs list

If the motor is bad, would it be better to buy a newer used unit for about near to double the cost of the motor? Ill tear into it tonight... Hope to find something in the impellers..Thanks for your time... I will update you... Ken Spring TX

Remove the toe panel and check the motor. If it's warm or hot then the motor is the culprit.

Gene.
P.S. You have to do it right after it was trying to start.

Remove the plug from the wash pump motor and check for continuity between the Blue & Yellow and Blue & Red terminals. Post the results.

The following article on our forum will explain in detail how to run a continuity test using either an analog meter or a digital meter - How To Check Continuity With Ohmmeter

The motor is the culprit. The parts you have to order if you are going to fix it are:

The motor Part number: AP4365135

Part number: AP4365135

The seal kit Part number: AP4365097

Part number: AP4365097
