My GE Cafe Dishwasher (CDW9380N20SS) has started making noise during the main part of the wash cycle. As best I can tell, there are two main parts it could be (and one minor part). It could be the drain pump, circulation pump, or the impeller. The drain pump is $50, the circulation pump is $215, and the impeller kit is $28. I could start with the cheapest part and work my way up but I don't want to spend $300 when I could have just replaced the circulation pump to begin with and saved the $88 by skipping trying the other two parts. Suggestions?

Here are your parts.
Parts for GE CDW9380N20SS Dishwasher - AppliancePartsPros.com

When does the noise occur.
If it during the wash part of the cycle then it is not the drain pump.

Also could you describe the noise.

Sometimes the wash pump will get noisy if the unit is not filling correctly.
The wash pump then sucks in air and cavitates making it noisy.
Most units fill to just under the heating element.

This is fairly easy to check by adding a couple quarts of hot water during a wash cycle. Just be careful that you do not overfill it.
If the noise disappears then it is a fill problem.

test reply since my replies have all failed - I get an error that says: Post rejected because of a score of: 40 Rejection set to: 20.

I have no idea what that means or why I keep getting failures

Here's a link to a list of videos I took today during a wash cycle.

1 and 9 and 10 are probably the most pertinent.

kmcooley dot com slash dw

(finally got this to work. had to make it cryptic so it would go through. the commentary in each video explains what is going on at what point in the wash cycle but 9 and 10 demonstrate the noise the best with others just showing what is going on at various stages up until about 54 minutes in.)

and I did not get a chance to try out your test of adding water as I thought the videos would help more initially.

do you have quicktime? please go to the page again and try the 1.m4a file. it's audio only since you really just need to hear what's going on. I'll try some other audio formats as well until we find one that works.
