I purchased a maytag dishwasher model # mdb7749sbm1 a little over a year ago. The normal wash button and start button are not working. The panel lights up when the other buttons are pushed. I have pulled off the control panel and having no luck locating the part number or pricing for this panel.
We are debating on if we should invest the money to replace this part or if we should purchase a different make and model all together considering we have only had this one for a year and are already having trouble with it

Can you tell me if the unit has a bubble or a capacitive type control pane/keypad?

A capacitive keypad is usually glass/hard plastic and just touching it activates the key.

A bubble keypad needs to be pushed to activate the key.

I went hunting for another unit that uses this same keypad so that I could give you a key pin-out for the control panel.
Unfortunately I could not find a tech sheet for any unit that uses this keypad and has the required info.
So there is no way to check if it is the control panel or control board.

Perhaps try running the diagnostics. It may show you something.

Although the part does not show on ApplancePartsPros they should be able to get it for you.
If you get it from them and it does not fix your problem you would be able to return it. Please see their return policy.

My guess is that it is the control panel that is bad but that is just a guess.
