My Jenn-Air dishwasher's start button does not light up nor does it start the dishwasher unless the door is open and I trick the door latch to assume it is closed by sticking a plastic measuring cup handle in the latch area and simulating a door closure. My start process is to trick the door latch as closed, press start and get water running, trick the door latch again to be door open again and then close the door. The disher runs a full cycle.

I get some lights when the machine is not running but not all the lights including the start. I have put in a new door latch assembly and get the same results. I put in a new motherboard got the same lights but it did not change anything except my trick with the door latch doesn't work; It doesn't run at all. I put my old motherboard back in and the trick works again.

I can only suspect the push pad now but that doesn't seem right either.
