I recently had a service call on my GE profile dishwasher because water was only "spraying" 30-45 seconds into each portion of a fill. When the repairman looked into the problem, he said water had leaked from the tub onto the wash pump.

I had cleaned out the sump and filter, the day before, as I have done in the past, which requires removal of the wash arm and center filter(?) which I did not replace properly causing the leak.

I have read in other blogs that a noisy pump can be caused by internal grinding of parts wearing or of lubrication wearing off. This change in noise level was immediate, i.e. not caused by parts wearing

QUESTION:
Is there any way to re-lubricate the pump motor? If so, how and with what?

If I place insulation in front of the kick-plate at the bottom of outside of the dishwasher, it considerably lessens the noise level. Is it advisable/safe to place a level of insulation inside the bottom behind the kick-plate?

Thanks!
