There is no water in the dishwasher and I do not hear the water valve opening. When I unplugged the connection and did a resistance test across the valve solenoid it reads "1" like an open circuit, but occasionally flashes a high number like 160. Am I doing the test right? Would this mean the water valve solenoid is bad? Or might it be the timer control? Is there some other test I should do? Many thanks, this a great website!

On further testing I got a resistance of 803 ohms across and 120 volts going into the inlet water valve. Based on a previous post I read, I think I will replace the inlet water valve.

You can check the connection if it was de-clogged or find someone to fix it.

Yes if you get 120 volts across the valve and no water then it is probably the valve.
Part number: AP2039339
Part number: AP2039339

Other possibilities are:

That there is a problem with the hot water supply either the shut off valve or someone has inadvertently shut it off.

Or

The screen filter is clogged solid with gunk.
Most valves have a screen filter built into the input side. It may just need cleaning. Do not permanently remove it from the valve as it is there to keep crud out of the valve which could hold it open and cause a flood.

Thank you both for your input. I hope to get the part today and give it a try. I'll report back.
