I just replaced a lower door seal on my dishwasher with part #154576501. It was an exact match for the old one. I only replaced it because some rubber bit had separated from the plastic and was dangling like a streamer.

I replaced the seal successfully (I think). However, I decided to run a full cycle with the front panel off to monitor the seal. I'm quite concerned now as I can see water lapping into what appears to be a trench under the door. The water does not go over the trench lip and I have no leaks on the floor or anywhere else. The trench also appears to have a "high tide" line where clean plastic ends and crud begins. It also empties out completely when the water is draining out through the pump.

Is this normal? The lower door seal doesn't have a lot of rubber on the edge, so I'm hoping someone is going to tell me it's okay!!
