The light inside the dishwasher will come on, but no response from the buttons on the control panel, sounds or signs of power/working.

I looked at the control board to visual inspect and I don't see any wires disconnected or burned out marks on the back. I did notice some slight browning around where the black (assuming power) wire connects and the plastic was a little brittle/broken on the connector wire - but I am assuming that since the inside light comes on it does have power.

Before I either shell out $600 for a new control board or a new dishwasher - any suggestions on things to troubleshoot?

Are there services I can send the board to for inspection/repair?
