Question Whirlpool Duet Washer won't turn on
Model Number: WFW9200SQ00   Brand: Whirlpool   Age: 1 - 5 years

Appliance Parts from AppliancePartPros.com
I have a Whirlpool Model #WFW9200SQ00 and have had it for less than 2 years. I bought it from Lowes and called them to get it repaired and they sent a repairman. Since it was more than 1 yr. the warranty was out. The problem is that it won't turn on when you press the Power button. The repairman checked a few things and called someone at Sears repair center and told him the symptoms and then checked a few more things and they decided the door switch was the problem. The repairman didn't have any parts for the washer even though we had to set up an appointment and gave him the Manufacturer and Model Number and had to wait a week to get him out here. He had a door switch sent out here the following Tuesday by UPS and returned on Thursday to install it and it didn't fix it. He said the CCU was the problem since the door switch didn't fix it and the CCU would cost $400 but he said he'd take the door switch back and send a check for the $100 I had paid for that. I told him I wasn't gonna spend $400 for a CCU as I'd only paid $600 for the washer to start with. I had already seen the CCU at your web site for $268.85 so I bought a CCU from you (Order Date: 10/1/2009 Order Number: 845739) to try to fix the problem and installed it myself. Nothing's changed. I now have $129 in a service call to a repairman that knew no more about it than I do plus $100 for the door switch if he doesn't send the money back and $268.85 plus shipping to you guys and still have the same problem. When you press the Power on button all it does is give 3 quick audible dings. I can lock the controls and unlock them and can get the maintenance codes by pressing the Water Temp button for 3 seconds and release for 3 sec. and press and release for total of three times. All the led's light up even around the knob, then it displays the codes C:00 - Ding - C:00 - Ding - C:00 - Ding - U:01 - Ding - U:00 - Ding - U:00 - Ding - C:00 - Ding - n:00 - Ding - off - Ding - C:00 and stops till you press Pause/Cancel. What else can the problem be?
Thanks for any help you can give.

Default Did you ever find a solution?

Hello Tommyhal,

I have the exact same problem, I believed the locking mechanism was the issue, however I replaced it and the machine kept doing the same.

Did you ever find a solution to your problem? I checked my connections and nothing seems to be damaged, the CCU seems to be working or else the diagnostics would not run (well it's what I am led to believe). Please post any other info you may have,

Thanks.

I replaced the CCU and the door switch and neither had any effect on the problem or the codes. I returned the CCU and door switch for refund and as of yet have done no more. We had cheched every voltage, wires for continuity and connections and have found nothing. One tech responded that possibly the new CCU was bad, but like you say, I get all diags. and the only error is "door switch" and if it sits long enough after running diags. we get a 71 code that says User Interface to CCU not communicating? I'm ready to bust it up and get a mechanical machine. I still have a Fisher-Paykel that's fine after replacing a leaking pump 2 yrs ago, when I bought this headache.

Tommy, Last night I got the exact same symptons you cited in your original post (down to the series of codes "C00" etc.). From what I had read on various sites/posts, it seems that loose connectors are the main culprit. After spends 10s of minutes wiggling various connectors, my washer came back to life (it's doing the first load now so who knows how long it will last). The last connectors that I manipulated seemed to be the set of 4 (3 white, one green) at the end of the electronics cluster at the front right of the machine (as you look at it with the top cover off. I have no idea if this is a coincidence or not.

FWIW, I had the F70 error code before it started failing to power up at all. I got this error code very soon after I fist got the machine 2 years ago. The service tech unplugged/replugged a few connectors, it started working, and he pronounced it something that had wiggled loose in shipping process. I was dubious but it did continue to work until last night. Seems like a problem with the overall design if things can wiggle loose on a device that is intended to have a lot if vibration and motion in the first place!!

HTH, Mike
