We have a GE Profile dishwasher Model #pdw7880n00ss that was new to the house, it's about 7 years old. This morning we went to wash a load of dishes and it won't start. The "normal" button lights up and it beeps as it should when the door is fully closed. But the "start" button doesn't light up and pressing it does nothing. The other buttons on the control panel seem to be working. Any idea what could be wrong?

Try taking the touchpad off and inspecting all your connections from it and cleaning them as well as the control board contacts and see if that helps.....if not you've got possibly a shorted out touchpad or your door switch may be bad. Ohm out the 2 switches at the door switch............if that doesn't work i'd suspect the touchpad is bad most likely. You may also have to replace the main board that works with it possibly afterwards also. The touchpad alone is $250 and the main control is $121.
