Model Number: 655.17013402 Brand: Kenmore Age: 1 - 5 years
Just yesterday the dishwasher started making a loud buzzing noise from the door. I took the front panel off and you can see the selinoid going crazy and hear it making the noise. I took the 2 wires off the selinoid and the noise goes away (of course so does the ability to dispense anything!). I tested the voltage of the wires (while off the selinoid) and there is 87 volts.
I could replace the dispenser, but the 87 volts leads me to believe it might be the control board. Is there anything else I can test? I ran the Service Diagnostics Cycle (which I don't understand very well). The buzzing seemed to happen all the time, except during the Dispense Cycle (12 I think). Could I assume that the voltage goes off to the selinoid on that cycle (to dispense) and is on for all the others? Thanks for any advice. Steve. Ads By Google Related Models |

Steve,
Check the solenoid resistance. In suppose to be between 280-340 Ohms. Gene.

Gene,
I also tested the voltage during the diagnostic run at the selinoid. It was 87 - 91 volts when the buzzing was happening (most the time). 120 volts when the dispenser is activated (opposite of what I thought/said in previous post). And 0 volts at beginning and end - when there is no buzz. I followed the 2 wires to the circuit board - didn't look like any crosses or breaks. The ground? side does connect with other wires before the board. The dispenser door is opening (I'm assuming when it should). And the washing seems to work fine. Just a crazy loud buzzing from the selinoid. Steve. |

Steve,
Sounds like the problem is a bad control board. - The control board Part number: AP3775998 Gene.
