Default Water Level Problems on whirlpool gold quiet partner III
Model Number: GU1200XTLB2   Brand: Whirlpool   Age: 1 - 5 years

I replaced a motor assembly (complete unit) on my dishwasher. The job went excellent thanks to your advise. I layed it on it's side and 45 minutes later job was complete. I now find I have low water level problem on start up, and it appears to drain slightly as it washes. If I cancel between rinse cycle via reset I do eventually get a correct water level. Any suggestions on parts to replace and it what order. My water hookup (valve) appears different from every thread I researched here. My float level appears to move up and down freely and I did replace the drain hose (cracked) after repair but didn't wrap it up around top side of unit as I direct line into my plumbing in basement.

According to the installation instructions (page 5) it must be a high drain loop 20" above the floor or an air gap installed on top of the sink if the drain hose is connected to house plumbing lower then 20" above floor.

It appears you knew far more than the business I bought this from. Thank you so much. Being I have to pull this entire unit again should I replace the water inlet value also, or is this problem of my low water level related to this foolish shortcut. Also is replaceing the inlet valve a simple repair? Are thier any pit falls I need to be aware of?

I would do the drain loop first and see how it works.

The water inlet valve is not too difficult to replace yourself.

- The part number for the water inlet valve is AP3178610

Here are the break down diagrams for the Whirlpool dishwasher Model GU1200XTLB2

Good luck.
Gene.

I can't thank you guys enough for all the advice you gave me. Please forgive me for not thanking you sooner. The better half had a heart attack and life has been rather busy of late, but at least I have you guys to keep me focused, and I actually finished my project with your expert advice. Everything is functioning as designed and there were no fires, destroyed home, or even frustration. It is a rare gift that someone can instruct one on how to repair items. I am without question in your debt. Thanks again guy for great advice and patience

I replaced the motor with ease, and the hose with the proper clearance as instructed by another repair tech in this forum, and it runs as good as new. I saved big time, and impressed several in my family I just might have one brain cell working over time in my retirement
