Kenmore refrigerator 15 years old- silent model). It works fine but at the end? of the cooling cycle it gives a clunking sound. Is there anything that should be done?? Does it mean that it is going to break down??

You seem to be missing the first 3 digits from the model number so I cannot give you the link to the parts.

Remove the rear cover from the unit and inspect the rubber compressor mounts.

If they look good then odds are that the problem is inside he compressor, see below.
http://www.applianceaid.com/refrigerator-repair-help.php#bang-noise

If it is the compressor then it may last a day or a year or more but it is unreliable. Best to turn it into a beer fridge without anything in it that can thaw/warm up and go bad.

The compressor is an expensive repair as you need a pro.
Often it makes more sense to put those dollars towards a new unit.
