folks i have ge profile gsd4940c00ss dishwasher, the wife said there seems to be a trim or gasket like item that is black that is falling apart into little pieces, and getting in with the load of dishes,

i looked and it looks like that trim/gasket goes between the tub corner baffles, and attaches either i think on the door or against the front lower edge of the tub.

on the diagrams, is part 844 the correct piece, if not which is the correct piece.

There is mastic stuck to the inside of the door. Overtime it slides down until eventually it reaches the bottom of the door. Them it breaks off into small pieces and gets into the dishwasher tub.

Open the door and remove the screws that hold the inside door from the outer door. Once you separate the doors you should see the black mastic, pull it off and put the door back together. I wouldn’t worry about replacing it because you will not tell the difference between the washer with it or without it.

thanks a bunch, just spent over 30 minutes cleaning that darn glue from the mastic, yuck

ok, next question how do i remove the rinse aid dispenser, does it just snap in place, because while cleaning up the mastic glue , i saw that the dispenser was leaking at the bottom.

Yes it pops out. Unscrew the cap and pop it off from the hole that the cap screws into. How much leakage are you talking about? Almost all I take apart have some residue under the dispenser so I wouldn’t worry unless it was a lot.
