Dishwasher Repair

This dishwasher is 2 years old. I start the cycle and it fills with water normally. When it starts to wash, there is a clicking sound behind the control buttons and it makes a buzzing sound. It does this 3 times. It then cancels the cycle and drains out and goes off. This dishwasher has always had "phantom" lights on the control panel. We had tried unsuccessfully several times to have this fixed through Kitchenaid or Lowe's. I don't know if we should start with the wash pump or the control panel. Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks!

We fixed it. We took the bottom of the dishwasher apart and there were small pieces of gray plastic stuck in the chopper. I guess it has a feature that will not allow the pump to work if the chopper is jammed. I wanted to let anyone else who has this problem know what to do. Everything works great now.
