Whirlpool Loud Whinning Noise
 

10 year old Whirlpool dishwasher just started making a loud whinning noise. 1st problem in 10 years! What to do?

Does not whine while draining.

Most likely there is some foreign object inside the pump.Open it and check the impeller and housing.

My diswasher seems to have healed itself. I ran it empty and no more noise. I decided to try that since I didn't have a star screw driver to take the top cover off of the housing. Awesome forum! I'll be back for my next appliance emergency. :)
