My dishwasher responds to the control panel. However, when I hit the start button, nothing happens except the timer runs down. The diswasher is not filling with water.

Hi.

Check if the water is on, next open the door and remove the float dome in the front left corner and check if the float is down.
If it is, remove the kick panel and check if there is 120VAC to the water inlet valve and the flood switch.
If not - trace the wires to the control board.
