Model Number: 665.15954000 Brand: Kenmore Age: 5 - 10 years
I have a replacement element coming next week. I was sold part #w10082892. It replaces part#8194200 and is made for stainless steel tubs. Question: Do i have to replace the control board and why. The part I bought does not come with one. There are a lot others out there all sold with a new board for around $180.00

I am assuming that your unit is a stainless tub.
If plastic you need a different heater. See the attachment for the heater kit info sheet Do i have to replace the control board and why. The heater is a different wattage and is controlled differently.

I replaced the heating element, bought the control board separately saving over ten bucks on the whole kit. In the process I found debris at the chopper assembly and discovered it in bad shape. Ran to parts store bought new assembly and replaced it and cleaned all the debris out of the drain area. It only took about an hour for everything and was very easy. I just ran the washer and the dishes are sparkling clean, and piping hot from the drying process. My total cost about $200 bucks. A new washer close to $800. Saved $600. Thank you for the advice.
