Model Number: SMU4056 US/01 Brand: Bosch Age: More than 10 years
Hi!
We have a dishwasher, which came with the house when we bought the house. We've only had the house a few years, but from the tag on it, the dishwasher appears to have been made around 1991, so it's probably been used a fair amount. The Circulation Motor, as in this diagram: Component assemblies replacement parts for Bosch SMU4056 US/01 (FD 7106-7308) | AppliancePartsPros.com runs, but makes a rather loud "rumbling" noise, which I'd like to correct, ideally without replacing the motor. Although there isn't a huge amount of play in the motor's shaft, it's enough that I'm guessing the noise is from something like worn bearings. There appear to be bolts holding the motor together. If I can remove the bolts, and disassemble the motor, will I find that it's one of those motors with "brushes" that are almost impossible to put back in place properly? Does the motor have bearings? Is there a bearing "collar" that I can replace, or can I "re-pack" the grease for the bearings? If I'm able to "re-pack" the bearings, what type of grease is correct? Would automotive Axle/Bearing grease be too heavy? Or is there some other type of grease, such as lighter weight Petroleum grease, that often might be found around the house of a "Do It Yourself" sort of person, that I could use? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Ads By Google Related Models |
