My dishwasher starts the cycle and goes through the whole cycle, but never drains. I used to be able to hear it kick in when it started draining, but this never happens now......what could possibly be wrong. I don't have a stopped up drain, already checked for that. Thanks.

A Model Number may help others help you

On most GE's
Remove the kick plate.
On the left hand front side of the pump you will see a solenoid.
This is the wash/drain solenoid.
It should pull down when the unit is supposed to drain.
With the unit off see if you can activate it manually.

Note the solenoid only gets power for about 10 seconds and then the water pressure holds the flapper valve in the drain position till the machine is empty. The spring then returns the valve to the wash position.
