Default Changing Motor Pump assembly
Model Number: DU8500XT1   Brand: Whirlpool   Age: 5 - 10 years

I am trying to remove the Impeller shaft from the Motor shaft and remove the motor in preparation to replace the whole assembly. Is it simply pressed on or is there something mechanical (screw). The drawings don't show a screw and there is no visable connection holding everything together. The lower 4 screws on the motor have been removed.

Hi Carl,

There is only one screw (#12 on the pump & motor break down diagram) held the impellers.

The drain impeller (#24 on the pump & motor break down diagram) could stuck due to rust. If it happened - you have to break it in pieces.

I would recommend to buy the special pump housing centering tool.

- The part number for the pump housing centering tool is AP2908817

Here are the break down diagrams for the whirlpool dishwasher Model DU8500XT1

Gene.
