Model Number: KUDS25SHBT1 Brand: Kitchen Aid Age: 5 - 10 years
DW exhibited loud squeal, found the cause to be in the chopper area. The SS drive spring below the chopper was deformed when the chopper ingested some foreign object (maybe part of a plastic DW rack bracket). So ordered a 675806 Chopper-impeller kit. It seems there was a design change in how the Drive Spring mechanically mates to the Shaft. This has led to some confusion on my part.
Besides the new Drive Spring, Chopper and Impeller, the 675806 Chopper-impeller kit included following UNKNOWN items (undefined where why how as to installation): a rubber bushing (1" OD with 1/2" ID SS insert), a new designed molded drive assembly (2.25 diameter, drive teeth on bottom, SS insert, 1.75 long shaft mates with the Drive Spring) , a large gasket (1/16 x 3/16, about 5 diameter), and a smaller gasket (1/16 x 3/16 about 1 diameter). 1. I replaced and tested the new Drive Spring, Chopper and Impeller, and left other parts unreplaced. DWnow works ok and no squeal, great but I now have a new substantial leak under the dishwasher. Could this be the pump gasket. 2. Does replacement of these UNKNOWN items above dictate removal of DW from undercounter and accessing from underneath to remove entire motor (mentions alignment tool required), as some of these appear to be drivetrain and sealing parts. 3. Is there a different sub assembly that could be ordered (ie motor / pump assembly or other that is more straightforward to replace. Appreciate your feedback. Thank You. Ads By Google Related Models |

Have since found answers to these questions on youtube videos regarding installation of the whirlpool (kitchenaid kit), the parts are all installed without removing the DW from under the counter. The small bushing is a water seal and inserted on the pump shaft. The other item (molded drive assembly 2.25 diameter) is actually an impeller and is to be installed on the pump shaft. The larger gasket goes onto the filter housing.
Unknown as of yet what the smaller gasket/seal goes to. |
