We have had a problem on ocassion starting the washer. None of the lights went on when pressed. Once in a while it did start. Now it does not start at all. had a repair man come and determine that the panel needs to be replaced. Cost is over $250, the cost of a new one almost. Is there a cheaper way to repair or correct the problem?

The only `cheaper way I know is to do it your self.

If you decide to do it - let me know the color.

What do you mean by color? Color of what?
I did read on this web page that someone suggested to clean some type of a "censor tape" with an eraser. Does this make sence?

The color of the control panel to get the correct panel.
You can try to clean the edge of the ribbon connector to the control board with the pencil eraser or the isopropyl alcohol.

The dishwasher has a black panel. How do I get to the ribbon? Is there an owner's manual or a vedio I can follow? How much will the replacement panel cost and are there directions I can follow to install it>

Thanks for the quick responses

Hi.

Here is the control panel black Part number: 6-919833
Part number: 6-919833

Unplug the unit before any work.
To get to the ribbon connecting the control panel and control board open the door, remove the screws holding the inner door and separate it from the outer door.
Disconnect the ribbon from the control board and clean it.
Put it back and try.
If it still doesn't work - replace the panel.

Price wise you are looking at about $160, so you may consider to hire the repairman.
