Our 12 year pld Jenn d/w just started making a loud noise similiar to a fast spinning grinder that has a bearing gone bad. It did it mid cycle two days ago and then yesterday when I went to start a new cycle the noise started immediately. Over the last few weeks I noticed the dishes were not getting clean but I thought it was because I was using some el cheapo gel detergent - wherein we had been using the packets.

I went ahead and added some water to the empty tub to see if the noise may have been a result of running dry and when I turned it to start and then manually rotated the cycle knob it made no difference, the noise continued.

I have removed the dw and replaced it with a spare that I was getting ready to install in another rental so it does not have power or water. I was wondering where I should focus/start in regards to dissambly / tear down to determine the problem ? Suggestions? Evden though its 12 years old it seems lie a very high end unit - Id like to see if i can repiar it before tossing it
