Default Whirlpool stuck in rinse cycle
Model Number: DU920pwkq0   Brand: Whirlpool   Age: 5 - 10 years

I started the dishwasher one evening last week, only to find it still in the rinse cycle the next morning. I was able to manually turn the dial and it did drain and shut off normally. I ran it the next day and the water did heat, but it still got stuck in the rinse cycle. Another forum indicated it is probably the timer, but since it is about $100 for the part, I want to know what I can check first to be as certain as possible that a new timer will correct the problem. I have never had to to any repairs to a dishwasher, so I'm starting from scratch. Any suggestions?

The first thing I would check for continuity is the heating element (#13 on the tub break down diagram) and the hi limit thermostat (# 18 on the tub break down diagram).

If there is nothing wrong - replace the timer.

- The part number for the heating element is AP3046634

- The part number for the hi limit thermostat is AP3010530

- The part number for the timer is AP3721799

Here are the break down diagrams for the Whirlpool dishwasher Model DU920PWKQ0

Just click on the "continuity".
