[FONT='Calibri','sans-serif']My Whirlpool Gold Quiet Partner II dishwasher, model GU1500XTLB3, gets stuck at 42 minutes in the normal wash cycle. The “sensing” and “water heating” LEDs are lit when this happens. I am able to press the “hi-temp” and “sani-rinse” buttons and then press the “pots and pans” button to advance to the next interval in the cycle. The dishwasher then completes the normal wash cycle without a problem and the dishes come out clean and dry. I have previously opened the dishwasher when it was stuck at the 42 minute mark and the water was VERY hot and the dishes dry fine, so I do not suspect the heating element, but would like guidance on how to test this part with the mulitmeter. I have tested the hi-limit thermostat for continuity and it was fine. I also tested the thermistor for resistance and had a reading of about 50 ohms. What else should I look for AND how should it be tested? Thanks in advance.[/font]

The normal reading for the thermistor resistance should be 48-52k Ohms @ 77°F. If you did the test correct then the thermistor is bad.

Sorry, 50k ohms is what I have for a reading..

The normal resistance for the heating element suppose to be between 10-35 Ohms.

If the reading is correct, replace the control board.

If the reading is incorrect, replace the heating element. They are different for plastic or stainless steel tubs. If you need the correct part number then post what kind of the tub is in your dishwasher.
