Having a problem with our dishwasher - we've only had it for a few months, and went out of town quite frequently so I can't verify that the dishwasher was ever working properly since installation. I am so tired of dealing with all of the repair men that I know who take forever to come out and are flaky when they do arrive. But anyways. Here's my issue:

After running a load, the soap dispenser is open and the soap has run down the side of the door. The dishes themselves, obviously, are not clean. So far, I have deduced the following:

- Water is able to come into the dishwasher and drain out. I have verified several times.
- The spinning arms, both top and bottom, are not clogged, nor are they being hindered by any sort of dish blocking them from moving.
- The water heater is a little slow to get going, but when the dishwasher is running we don't have to wait for hot water at all.
- The soap is not old. It is brand new.

I am just completely baffled here. I'm ready to begin trouble shooting, but I didn't install the unit so I'm not sure if it was done correctly. I vaguely remember having issues with the washer when everything was starting out, so I have a suspicion it may be the installation...but who knows!

Any input would be greatly appreciated - please help me get this done so I don't have to hand wash anymore. :(

Here is the tech sheet and install instructions for this unit

Am not sure if this unit should fill to just over or just under the heating element. Most units fill to just under the element.

Check that the drain is installed correctly.
If OK
Start a wash after it fills add a couple quarts of hot water to the unit.
If it now washes OK then perhaps one of the following is the problem.
1. The installers did not open the house plumbing hot water valve all the way.
2. When they installed the unit they knocked some crud loose and it is partially blocking the screen filter on the input side of the water fill valve. Remove the valve and clean the screen filter. Do not remove it as it is there to keep crud out of the valve which could hold the valve open and cause a flood.

If this solves the problem then it is also a good idea to drain some water out of your hot water tank. Over time crud collects in the bottom of the tank making it less efficient and contaminating your plumbing. Let it run till you get nice clean water.

Anything further than the above I would leave to the pros as the unit should be under warranty and you do not want to void it.
