We just had to replace the upper rack assembly (WD28X10142) on this model, and in the course of transferring parts from the old rack to the new one, I found that the spray arms were clogged.

Unclogging them is a bugger, but I found it helped to slowly run water into the arm while using a hooked paperclip to coax the junk out of the nozzles. It seems that sunflower seeds are pretty good at clogging these nozzles.

Going further upstream, I noticed that the Coarse filter (Item #: AP4484684, Manufacturer's #: WD22X10076 made by GE) looked as if it were partially clogged with paper or other soft white yuck.

In order to remove the Coarse Filter, you need to remove the lower spray arm, the nut hub, and the fine filter. Then remove the filter cover, and gently disconnect the upper wash arm water supply tube from the hub connection. You also need to remove the Filter Sump.

To remove the Filter Sump and Cover Assembly (Item #: AP4484685, Manufacturer's #: WD22X10077), I found it helpful to use a short, small flat screwdriver to help release the two snap tabs. The retainer tabs are located just under the two tabs that extend upward from the floor-level of the dishwasher to capture the filter cover. I found that I was not comfortable squeezing these tabs enough to disengage the retainers. So, while squeezing the tabs inward toward each other, gently slide the screwdriver along the outer face of the sump, just under the tabs where your fingers are. Move the screwdriver blade down until you find the retainer tab, then push inward to release one retainer, then the other. The sump will lift straight upward.

With the Filter Sump removed, you can lift the Coarse Filter up and out to wash it in a sink. Use a soft brush if needed to clear the holes. Replace the Coarse Filter in place and be sure that it's seated around its perimeter.

To reassemble the Filter Sump, replace the sump and push gently until you hear the retainers snap back into place. If you wish, push gently on the inner surface of the sump (you will see the sink marks in the plastic) to ensure the retainers are fully engaged.
