The dishwasher runs continuously when it gets to 42 minutes on both the pots and pans cycle and the regular cycle. We must push cancel/drain for it to stop running. The short cycle runs ok. What is the problem?

Strange that I could not find a actual parts breakdown at the Sears site so will try a work aroung.
I can tell you that the unit was actually made by Whirlpool.
There is not a cross reference of Sears to Whirlpool model numbers so I looked at the models that use the same control board and following is the manual for that Whirlpool unit. Yours should be close but not an exact match.

It sounds like the unit is hanging up when it is trying to heat the water up to a set point.
I would unplug the unit and check the high limit thermostat (usually attached to the bottom of the tub) (should be 0 ohms) and the heater (10 to 35 ohms).
