Model Number: mdbtt50awq Brand: Maytag Age: 1 - 5 years
Had a repair man out and said that control panel was the problem. He recommended replacing the dishwasher because he said Maytag was "junk" but did give me the part number. First part shipped was wrong part. I then contacted supplier and they were happy to replace control panel with apologies and discount. Put part in and unit still not starting. All other lights work and there does not seem to be any signs of scorching at any connector. Door latch looks good also with no signs of scorching on either side. Wife stated that the original problem was the same before we replaced the control panel. What next? Any resetting of unit? Fuses, etc. Thanks for you advice.

Here are your parts
Replacement parts for Maytag MDBTT50AWQ DISHWASHER- UNDERCOUNTER | AppliancePartsPros.com See the attachment for the tech sheet. You did not describe the problem was so I am guessing. Usually certain keys not working etc. is either the keypad/control panel or the control board. Only way to narrow it down is to disconnect the keypad and check it's outputs with a meter. Ifit checks out OK then replace the control board. Still a bit of a crap shoot but your odds are better. As far as Maytag being "junk". When they do not work all appliances are so called junk and when they work they are great. Perhaps the tech has problems fixing Maytag and that is why the person feels they are junk.

I still do not know the original problem but if it was that one of the keys/light was always on then it could be that the key is shorted (always closed).
Only way to tell is to check the keypad with a meter.

Could be the start switch itself is not closing.
The only way to tell is check it with a meter. As you can see a number of switches use a common line so check that those other button that use the lines work. This only checks the connection (ribbon cable) between the control panel and the control board so it may still be the switch itself.
