Default Black specks on clean items
Model Number: du935qwdb5   Brand: Whirlpool   Age: 5 - 10 years

My dishwasher has been leaving black specks on the items washed in there for the last few weeks. Other than that, the items are cleaned of all food particles. I am assuming that the door gasket/seal may be old, and possibly dry rotted, and that by replacing the door gasket, the problem will go away. I have 2 questions....one, has anyone ever had this problem and am I correct in my assumption above, and two, to replace the door gasket, is it just a compression fit into a fixed groove, or is some sort of adhesive needed? In other words, can I just pull out the old seal, clean the channel and insert a the new seal? Or will I need to put some sort of adhesive in the channel first? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've never had to work on my dishwasher before.

I'm having the same issue with my dishwasher. Did you find out what was causing your black specks?

Please e-mail me if you've figured it out at taparent@verizon.net

Thanks,

-Todd

Did you determine whre the black specks were coming from? I'm having the same problem. By gasket seems fine.
