Please help; little experience, but willing to learn:

Bosch dishwasher SHU3006UC/U06 not getting water. Water line is open. Had a sink drain problem (this happened once before, years ago; both times wife used chemicals) and so I assumed damage to water valve assembly. Replaced water valve (But: with a replacement that's been in basement for some years--I think I got an extra one after last time--don't remember).

Despite replaced water valve (which I suppose could be bad--see above) , I'm still not getting water in any cycle. Drain pump operates (it might be the operating noise that occurs all the time right now when machine is on), while timer knob rotates only about a quarter of an inch clockwise and then stays there. No water enters. Manually moving timer knob does not introduce water.
