If it's the motor humming it sounds like the machine isn't filling with water. Can you provide any more detail?

Also make sure the float inside the dw is in the down position and coming into contact with the float switch. You should hear the float switch click when raising and lowering the float.

That is as long as water is getting to the valve from your source. If the float was at fault you wouldn't be getting voltage at the valve. Not sure I understand what you're asking about on the motor.
